Early 20th Century diorama of an 18 pound Gun Team Royal Artillery of the 1st World War (1914-1918) with the model depicting a scene of three soldiers riding on a team of horses pulling a two-wheeled military limber or carriage along a trench line or devastated road, the terrain features realistic battlefield details, including deep mud, rolls of barbed wire, sandbags piled against a brick wall, a streetlamp, and a stark, leafless tree that evokes the desolation of the Western Front. The entire model is preserved inside a rectangular, wood-framed glass display case, at the bottom of the case is a regimental badge of the Royal Regiment of Artillery. Circa 1920.
