19th Century French desk and matching desk chair
A freestanding 19th Century French mahogany writing desk, the moulded edge top having a green leather writing surface decorated with blind and gilt tooling, the front of the desk consisting of three oak lined drawers with original decorative brass escutcheons, brass mounts and and workable locks and keys, the end drawers having brass circular patraes, all three drawer fronts having wonderful decorative inlay, the right hand drawer having a lockable secret compartment. The reverse of the desk being exactly the same as the front but having three faux drawers. Supported on four elegant turned and fluted legs terminating on engraved brass feet. In excellent condition and having a lovely warm mahogany colour. Circa 1880.

An elegant and decorative 19th Century French mahogany desk chair with a cane seat, having a curved back with fluted central splat back, curved and inlaid arms, inlaid frame with decorative circular patraes, standing on front turned and fluted legs with brass feet and out swept rear legs. Circa 1880.
