A superb quality 19th Century French Kingwood and ormolu mounted bureau-plat desk, having a shaped top with an ormolu moulded edge, decorative shell engraved corner mounts, kingwood cross banding around the edge and a green leather writing surface decorated with gold and blind tooling at the centre, having three shaped oak lined drawers at the front of the desk with highly decorative ornate ormolu on the drawer fronts, the reverse of the desk having the same style as the front but with faux drawers, decorative ornate ormolu to the sides of the desk and supported on cabriole legs with bold ormolu mounts. Circa 1880.
