				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A superb quality early 19th Century mahogany breakfront bookcase, the stepped moulded cornice above four large glazed doors opening to reveal two adjustable shelves inside each section, the bottom section having four flame mahogany panelled cupboard doors, with two drawers above the central doors and a faux drawer either side, having decorative turned handles, the doors opening to reveal a single adjustable shelf in each section, the central cupboard having  two pull out slides above the shelf.  The front of the whole bookcase having highly decorative carved decoration, supported on a plinth base.  The bookcase is in excellent condition and each door has workable locks and keys, superb mahogany colour.  Circa 1840.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>An exhibition quality large 19th Century walnut and ormolu open bookcase, having a wonderful figured and shaped top which is also crossbanded, the frieze below having decorative engraved ormolu moulding and further ormolu moulding at the bottom of the frieze, with four ormolu patraes at the centre, the bookcase having six adjustable shelves which is split into three sections with four concave pillars with further wonderful figuration, crossbanding on the sides and supported on a plinth base with decorated with engraved ormolu moulding. In excellent condition and having a lovely warm walnut colour. Circa 1860.</p>
<p>The cabinet makers Johnstone and Jeanes produced very high quality antique furniture, as they only used the finest quality timbers and were skilled craftsmen. They were based in 67 New Bond Street in London from 1842 until 1880 run by John Johnstone. Specialising in tables and with a burgeoning reputation, they exhibited at all the major exhibitions. Notably London in 1851 and ’62 and Paris in 1878. With an aristocratic client list, the Royal collection acquired a walnut veneered table from the firm.</p>

The front, sides and inside of the bureau and bookcase lacqured depicting Chinese countryside scenes, lovely quality and in excellent condition. Circa 1920.</p>
